Want to learn how to thrive during the teen years?
As a Licensed Professional Counselor for over 8 years working with teens and their parents I've discovered a few things. I've learned how to help parents better understand their teens based on their current stage of development, provided parents with new ways of engaging with their teens, how to set healthy limits and consequences, and how to improve and deepen the relationship between teens and parents.
I firmly believe that when teens feel supported, heard, and seen by their parents/guardians they truly thrive. I see my client’s once a week but they see their parents everyday. I often find myself thinking, if only parents had some of the knowledge I have about how their teens are developing, how they think, feel, and experience the world, then we could see more resilient and healthy teens.

What is parent coaching?
When it comes to coaching, I focus on the present and tap into current strengths that are working for you. We don't discuss past trauma, pain or sources of distress. During parenting coaching sessions, I focus on helping parents develop awareness of what works best for their family, building skills, and I tend to be more educational and task/goal oriented. The coaching sessions are therefore collaborative and informational in nature. Parent coaching is all about working together as a team towards a desired goal. This can look like better communication between parents and teen, implementing more positive discipline practices, developing healthier boundaries, increasing parenting confidence, creating healthy self-care practices, and learning about how to best support your teen who might be struggling with a mental health issue.
