Deciding to take the leap of starting therapy can be scary. You have no idea what to expect. My goal on the first session is to create a space where clients feel seen, heard, and understood. A big part of success in therapy is about fit between client and therapist. I put my clients at ease by listening, validating and helping you find what works best for you, not what works for everyone else. Together during the first session we have 60 minutes to discuss what's going on, what is causing you distress, and to work together to create a plan to help you feel like your best self.
The frequency and length of treatment is dependent on your need, the intensity of your symptoms, and what your ultimate goals are. Follow-up sessions are also 60 minutes, but here we start using the plan we created together during the initial session, to help move you closer to your goals. While I don't focus on your past, discussing things that have happened help us see how you got to the present moment. I take a holistic approach to working with my clients which means I look at their past, any medical history, current environmental factors, relationships, and wellness practices. I then provide you with the tools and skills needed help you start to feel relief and empowered moving forward.
So while starting therapy might be a scary thought at first, I am here to help you face your fears and grow into the person you always knew you could be. We got this. See that's not so scary now is it?
